What Is Nutrition Week?

Ten years ago, Nutrition Week was an idea in its nascent stage. It is now a reality, gathering support and recognition worldwide. Our host organizations, which represent over 6,000 professionals in the nutrition filed, are but a fraction of the 85,000 additional specialists represented by our Sponsors and Participating Organizations. This is just the beginning of the enthusiastic response we have received for this exciting, inaugural conference, to be held in beautiful San Diego, February 23-27, 2002…less than a year from now.

Nutrition Week is composed of non-profit, membership-based, scientific, educational or research-oriented nutrition associations and societies. Our mission is to enhance the understanding and collaboration among nutrition industry specialists, and raise the profile of nutrition within the health care community and general public.

Attendees and participants will be members of these organizations, practitioners with a related interest, and scientific leaders on the cutting-edge of research and development. The resultant synergy from this first gathering and collaboration of nutrition scientists, dietitians, pharmacists, nurses, physicians, and health care professionals, will have far reaching impact in scientific development, pharmaceutical discoveries, and patient care. Join us.

State-of-the-art clinical approaches and research findings will be presented as part of the educational mission of Nutrition Week. A comprehensive and multi disciplinary range of topics will include: Obesity, nutrition and chronic diseases, such as diabetes, heart disease, cancers and osteoporosis, neuropsychology, parenteral and enteral nutrition and nutrition support, micronutrients, phytoestrogens, nutraceuticals and alternative therapies

This is only the beginning.

The Convening organizations, ACN, A.S.P.E.N., ASCN, and NAASO, are working diligently to design and promote this international program that will change the way we look at nutrition and health. Our marketing and promotion vehicles will reach nearly 100,000 professionals, including regional primary care physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and allied health professionals, as well as scientists and pharmacists with an interest in nutrition.

While modeled after the highly successful Digestive Disease Week (DDW), Nutrition Week 2002 will be a meeting like no other. It is an important gathering for information sharing, professional networking, and service and product promotion. Be a part of it.
